In a saucepan, heat a little ghee or butter, add the spices (cumin, cinnamon, and cardamom), and saute until you can smell their aroma. Add the onion (previously minced in a processor), the rice and mix.
Incorporate water (double the amount of water as rice), add some salt, and cover. cook over medium heat for 15 minutes.
Take out the cinnamon stick, mix and serve.
